Impairment Details
At age 12 she was attacked by a bear at a zoo in Timisoara, Romania. She was leaning on the railings of the bear's enclosure when the animal grabbed her right leg, resulting in the limb being amputated below the knee. (myinfo.rio2016.com, 09 Sep 2016)

NATIONAL FIRST
In 2016 she became the first female representing Romania to compete in Para canoe sprint at the Paralympic Games when the sport made its debut at the Games in Rio de Janeiro. (SportsDeskOnline, 15 Sep 2016)

BREAK FROM SPORT
She did not take part in any sport from 2004 to 2009 because she did not have the support of her then husband. She returned to Para canoe sprint in 2011 after the sport was approved to make its debut at the Paralympic Games for the 2016 event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
